To know me is to know I love podcasts. There are very few moments when you won’t find me listening to one of the multitudes of podcasts I follow. So to be interviewed for a podcast is really a dream come true for me. Kala McDonald with Yoga to Cope asked me to sit down with her and talk about mental health, my background, and the importance of yoga in my life. I could not refuse because it really was the coming together of all my passions in one platform. You can listen to the podcast here.
I was fortunate enough to meet Kala through a mutual friend when we were in college. It has been interesting to watch how our lives, careers, and interests have intersected over the years. Much like myself, Kala found that yoga helped her find a balance in her life and kept her healthy. Because of everything she gained from yoga, she wanted to help others find yoga and wellness and so Yoga to Cope was born. I’m going to quote straight from her website and say Yoga to Cope is “a nonprofit organization aiming to provide completely free, online, yoga-based resources for people coping with trauma, pre-trauma, grief, depression, and the like.”
I highly encourage you to listen to the other podcast she has published as it tells her story and you get insight into why this organization is so important to her. Kala has not had an easy go of it in life and I have nothing but respect for how she has chosen to live her life and give back to others. I can’t wait to see where she takes Yoga to Cope and I am excited to roll out my yoga mat with her and be even a small part of this journey.
